Facebook sucky these days
There was a time, not too long ago, that I was an “ambassador” of sorts for Facebook. I found it to be a great place to re-connect with long-lost friends, family, and classmates. And, for the most part, still do…but lately it’s been getting rather annoying.
What is up with all of this “re-post” garbage all of a sudden? It’s as though those chain e-mails I have always found so annoying have made their way to Facebook. And with them, a new generation of gullible people who will do exactly as the message prods them to do.
Some of the posts are really low-blows, too. Such as trying to make it appear as if you don’t love Jesus, or your mother, or your father, etc. if you don’t re-post the item. I have news for the people who post those things: copy and paste is cheap. Prove it with your actions instead.
The re-posts are also a new venue for scams and hoaxes. Example: last week when a hoax started to spread claiming that Facebook would donate to Haiti relief for re-posting a status. Sound familiar? Yes, very similar to the old “Bill Gates will track your e-mail” hoaxes from the late 90’s.
So, let’s make Facebook a pleasant place to visit once again. STOP THE RE-POSTING. You don’t want to alienate your friends in real life; don’t do it online, either.
